Sometimes you just have to take a break from being a dust bunny and remind yourself of 5 important things:
- You is cute.
- You is smart.
- You is important to somebody + loved by somebody.
- You is here for a reason.
- You is going to graduate.
Fun Fact: Red lipstick makes me feel like a superhero. Which one? I'm not sure. I'll have to reference a Marvel Encyclopedia and get back to you in 5-7 business days.
- Cool moment: when you finally know what those voices that talk really fast on the medication commercials are talking about . #PathoPharm
- Nursing school exams 48 hours apart should be illegal. Test fatigue is real.
- Shoutout to SGA for feeding us this week. I'm always grateful for free food.
- Clinical twice a week, 2-hour simulations and shorter classes began this week. BLESS IT!
- This is the first week in about 1 month I haven't had to show up at 8AM on a Monday for an exam. It's only for 1 week, but I'll take it.
- In campus simulation this week we had another simulation to teach us about teamwork. Our scenario: Perform a head to toe assessment + focused exam and provide a nursing diagnosis for your patient prior to calling the Doctor. SIMMan had a hard dry cough, O2 saturation of 88%, hasn't been sleeping and no history of asthma. I'd just like to say that I thrive under pressure. It felt cool to yell out "Patient has inspiratory and expiratory wheezes bilaterally, let's elevate the head of the bed and hook him to the nasal cannula, start on 2 liters." Diagnosis: Impaired gas exchange.
- We had our first official clinical this week. I got paired up with a wound care nurse and saw 2 patients + did 2 care plans. 6-hour shifts are tough because as soon as you get ready to do real work it's time to debrief with my professor and go home.
- Alexa, play "Think Good Thoughts - Drake" The Law of Attraction is real. Your thoughts become actions/manifest.
- I finally remastered my resume to a "Nursing Student" Resume. It's lowkey painful to "delete" all of my UGA accomplishments because most are no longer relevant to what I'm currently doing. The end of an era, truly.
- 8AMs are draining. I've been taking them since Freshman year of my first degree and they're finally catching up to me. For whatever reason, it's easier to wake up at 4AM than 8AM. Probably because at 4AM I haven't had the chance to get into a deep sleep.
- There's no better feeling than being prepared for an exam! It's taken some time, but I think I've finally figured out a way to study that works best for me + motivates me.
I need a bigger bookbag before I destroy this purse.
My purse on a daily basis.
My home away from home, the Library.
PathoPharm notebook.
3 exams down, 2 more to go.
Cardio is up next!
I don't drink soda.
But this week I was the captain of the struggle bus and needed the caffeine.
Talk about laser lightning focus.
Not even hyper, just super productive.
Maybe I should start drinking more caffeinated beverages.
- Speaking of exams : Ear plugs are essential. Shoutout to the CNE!
- It's 47 degrees as I'm typing this. I had to turn on my heater this week. This is depressing. Depressing because most of my winter clothes are at my parent's house. Time for another closet purge.
- For the first time in all of Nursing school, a class got canceled. So thankfully, I got to sleep in for an additional 2 hours on this gloomy Friday.
- I'm strongly considering hosting meal prep parties. Seriously this time. A friend and I were talking at dinner last night and laughed about how we only eat well-balanced meals when we visit our parents because cooking is a chore when you have so much studying to do. That's shameful. And I'm laughing.
- I said last week was the best week of Nursing school, I lied. This week was. This year has been a constant feeling of "everything is finally falling into place." No complaints here. It's a great feeling. I can't wait to see how the rest of the year pans out.
I'm one week closer to sleeping for 1 month without alarms, getting a long overdue massage, finally using this other free movie ticket and going to the movies for the first time in MONTHS (last movie I saw in theaters was "Acrimony") and reading fun books.
Happy Friday!
